Enrollment Services provides the following services:

  • Admitting students to Renton Technical College
  • Registration information
  • Assisting students with transferring in credits from other college and universities
  • Producing official transcripts for students
  • Certifying RTC certificates and degrees

Students who have had program-related coursework at other institutions before attending Renton Technical College may be awarded transfer credit. The College maintains credit reciprocity agreements with many institutions of higher learning. Students transferring from other institutions must have an official transcript and courses with less than a "C" or 2.0 grades will not be accepted. To have your transcript evaluated, submit your official transcript and a Transfer Credit Evaluation Request Form to the Office of Enrollment Services. Once the paperwork is submitted, determinations are generally made within two weeks.


Entrance requirements

Renton Technical College (RTC) is an open-access or open-entry college. In accordance with WAC 131-12-010, admissions to RTC is open to anyone who: 

  • has interest and personal goals related to their chosen program of study and can benefit from RTC’s curriculum 
  • is at least 18 years old; or  
  • has a high school diploma; or 
  • high school equivalency certificate; or 
  • has applied for admission under the provisions of a student enrollment options program, such as Running Start, Youth High School Completion, or another local student enrollment options program. 

Individual programs may have additional entrance requirements related to licensure or require specific educational credentials. Some programs have limited space. Registration is typically first-come, first-served except for programs that require additional entrance and application requirements, so it is important to apply early.

Admission to the college may be initiated through online web admissions, in person, or by mail.

Returning to Renton Technical College?

Residency Status:

Returning or readmitted students will retain their previous residency classification unless there has been a change, or contradicting information was found on your student record. As an open-enrollment institution, we follow this standard policy for all returning students.
Who is a Returning Student?
You are considered a returning or readmitted student if you have missed four consecutive quarters (excluding summer) and wish to re-enroll at Renton Technical College.

Steps to Return:

  1. Complete the Admission Application – Submit your application online.
  2. Watch for a Confirmation Email – Our RTC Registration Team will notify you once your application has been processed.
  3. Resolve Any Holds – Log into your Student Home Page to check and clear any holds that may prevent registration.
  4. Meet with Your Advisor & Register – Schedule a meeting with your advisor and register for classes through your Student Home Page.

If you belong to a student population that is served by a specific department, please contact that department directly to determine if there are any additional requirements for your return to Renton Technical College. Student Payment Plan is a payment plan available to assist students in paying their tuition and fees in three payments (two in the summer quarter), according to the payment due dates on the academic calendar. The first payment is on the tuition due date and includes a non-refundable $25 Payment Plan Enrolment fee, the second a month later, and the third a month after that. You can enroll into the payment plan from your ctcLink account. Payment Plan is also an option for students who are waiting for their financial aid to be reviewed.

The timely payment of tuition and fees is expected by all students attending Renton Technical College. Students must follow the Academic Calendar for tuition due dates. Any students who have not paid tuition by this due date will be dropped from their classes for non-payment. The student understands that each term, when they register for any class at Renton Technical College, the student accepts full responsibility for paying all tuition, fees, and other associated costs assessed because of their registration and Student Financial Responsibility Agreement.

The most convenient way to pay is online via the ctcLink Student Homepage. You can also choose to pay in person, by phone, or can enroll in the Payment Plan.

A $75 late fee will be charged to students currently enrolled in a program at RTC who have not registered before the first day of the quarter. This does not apply to new students registering for the first time.
