Drop for Non-Payment (DRNP)
What is Drop for Non-Payment (DRNP)?
It is a process where the system identifies students (registered in college-level courses and coded in a college-level program) who have not paid their account balance on time for the upcoming academic quarter and drops the students’ classes for that academic quarter.
It is ultimately the student’s responsibility to withdraw/drop classes in a timely manner.

Students who register after January 10, 2025 (the last day to drop for 100% refund) will not be DRNP for Winter 2025 classes. Charges will remain on account for the quarter and student will need to pay in full before any future registration. |
How to Avoid Being DRNP
It is the student’s responsibility to be aware of important deadlines, including paying tuition in a timely manner. Please review the ‘Student Financial Responsibility Agreement’ on this page.
- Make a payment on time. Learn different ways to pay or explore funding options.
- Students at risk of DRNP may be sent a courtesy tuition reminder via their preferred email address in ctcLink. Please make sure your preferred email address is up to date by navigating to your ctcLink Student Center > Student Homepage > Profile > Contact Details.
- Check the status of your Financial Aid or funding resource to see if you are eligible
for a tuition-deferred hold (see next section for definition) on your account.
- Contact your funding resource if you have any questions. Learn more about RTC funding resource information.
What is a tuition-deferred hold?
A tuition-deferred hold (sometimes referred to as a funding hold) is a tentative courtesy tuition hold to protect your class(es) from being dropped for the quarter until your eligibility for that specific funding that you have applied for has been processed.
IMPORTANT: Having this type of hold does not guarantee that your tuition will be paid for and does not remove your responsibility to drop classes in a timely manner.
Please communicate with your funding resource for details on your specific funding request status. Once they have completed processing your funding eligibility, you are responsible for paying any remaining balance.
What to do if you have been DRNP?
If you noticed that all of your classes have dropped, it may mean that you have been DRNP. In other words, all of your registered classes for the quarter are dropped entirely due to non-payment and the seats are made available to other students. If you want to re-register, don’t delay – act right away!
- Through January 8, re-register for classes immediately in ctcLink if space is available. Contact Enrollment Services department if you have any questions on how to re-register.
- If a class is full, add yourself to the waitlist if available.
- After January 8, fill out a Registration Add/drop form, contact the instructor for written permission to be re-registered or obtain their signature on the form, and provide all documentation to Enrollment Services for processing.
- After successfully re-registering, pay tuition or check the status of your funding resource by the appropriate due date. If tuition is not paid or covered, you will be at risk of DRNP again.
- Students are responsible for any consequences that may result from dropped class(es), such as impact on financial aid status, impact on degree progress, and remaining tuition balances.
