Multi-Occupational Trades Associate of Applied Science Degree

• RTC is on a quarter system: RTC academic calendar
  • Fall, Winter & Spring quarters are about 3 months long 
  • Summer quarter is much shorter - only about 1 ½ months long (classes are accelerated to fit into the summer quarter)  
• Each class will take 10-15 hours of work per week (more in summer quarter), three classes is a full-time student schedule 
• Apprentices may begin taking general education classes before, during, or after their apprenticeship 
• Take the RTC English Placement survey to decide what English class to start with.
• Choose what math class to take:  
  • You can sign up for AMATH 175 Financial Math or AMATH 190 Financial Algebra- either of these classes will meet the math requirement for your MOT AAS degree but will not transfer well  
  • If you’ve taken math at another college, please talk with the MOT adviser  
  • Assess your math knowledge & preparedness to take a more advanced math class: Math Placement Survey
• If you are an NCWI apprentice/journeyperson and your plan is to transfer to CWU, follow the CWU recommended classes for your MOT degree- please see these in Transfer Partnerships below

• After signing up for classes, request the Apprentice/ Journeyperson tuition discount (needs to be done every quarter): MOT tuition discount request form
• Apprentice/ Journeyperson Tuition discount rates: 
  
  • Apprentice Tuition: Apprentices taking state-funded classes receive a 50% discount on tuition and some fees 
  • Journeyperson Tuition: Journeypersons taking state-funded classes receive a 25% discount on tuition and some fees

• The Apprentice/ Journeyperson tuition rate is only available for the classes required to complete your MOT AAS degree 
• Need help paying for tuition? You may qualify for Workforce Funding programs: Worker Retraining or Opportunity Grant funding

• Apprentices may need to meet residency requirements (a certain percentage or number of credits completed at RTC), generally this means at least four classes for your MOT AAS degree need to be completed at RTC 

• NWCI graduates with a MOT AAS degree can transfer to Central Washington University to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology & Administrative Management, with a specialization in Project Management
• The following classes are recommended for the MOT AAS degree, if transfer to CWU is your goal:

  • Elective (choose one)

    • POLS&202 American Government 
• RTC is continuing to explore transfer partners for the MOT degree, currently the only transfer agreement is for NWCI graduates
