Healthcare administrator Timothy Cooper joined the Renton Technical College Board of Trustees. Cooper, executive director of Medical Specialties at Kaiser. Permanente of Washington, was appointed by Gov. Jay Inslee in November. He replaced the Rev. Kirby Unti, who served on the board for more than 13 years.
“I believe in the importance of diverse educational opportunities for students and recognize the importance of RTC to our community,” he said. “The college is a vital part of the framework of our growing city.”
He says RTC is a fit for students in career training in a field that aligns with their passion and meets workforce needs. Like many industries, healthcare is struggling to find staff to support clinical operations.
“Schools like RTC play a vital role in training future medical assistants and surgical technicians who are the backbone of our systems. We must grow and protect schools like RTC to ensure the health and vibrance of our community.”
