Renton Technical College's new student-focused website and a story about Renton Promise students earned regional Gold Medallion Awards from the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations. The awards were presented at the District 7 NCMPR Conference. The district includes Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Alaska, and Canada.

RTC’s team won Gold in the Website category for the site, which launched in June with a contemporary design, streamlined navigation, and student-focused approach to make it easier for new visitors to find information. The new site showcases our students and the opportunities available to new students with videos, photos, and stories. Redesigned Areas of Study and Program pages highlight opportunities for students, clearly outlining the benefits of each program, career information, testimonials, and application information. Capitalizing on the college’s "Find your Place" theme, the site includes other creative elements, such as a hand-drawn, digitally enhanced illustration of recognized landmarks at the college in the footer and student testimonials. “This was a huge undertaking and collaborative effort,” said Katherine Hedland Hansen, executive director of College Relations and Marketing. “I’m so grateful for our small but mighty team who brought the new site to life and for this recognition of their hard work and talent.”

The team included Creative Services Director Evyson Beasley, Graphic Designer Mike Choi, Webmaster Marzena Sasin, and Web Content Specialist Matt Stephen.

Other important pages are grouped under four clearly understood groupings: Academics, Paying for College, Student Life, and About. They take students to compelling, photo-heavy landing pages for easy referral to the desired.

The college also received a gold award in the Excellence in Writing Category for a story Hansen wrote: Renton Promise makes college a reality for students.

NCMPR includes communications and marketing professionals from two-year colleges throughout the country.
