McCarthy Bridge to College Success Grant

The McCarthy Bridge to College Success Grant is a one-time, $4,000 grant for College & Career Pathway students who plan to continue their college degree or certification training at Renton Technical College (RTC). The application for Winter 2025 is closed.

  • You are eligible if you meet ALL of the following:
    • At the time of your grant application, you are currently enrolled and taking classes as a College & Career Pathways (CCP) student at RTC.
    • Have completed at least two quarters of CCP courses, OR a high school credential this quarter (diploma or GED).
    • Have identified a Career Training Program to transition into.
    • You will be entering your select program at its next entry point.
  • Cheryl Kennedy is ready to help and can walk you through the application process. Cheryl is an excellent resource if you need additional funds for school. 

Once awarded, you have 4 consecutive quarters to utilize the funds for tuition, fees, and required books, tools or equipment.

No. The McCarthy Bridge Grant is a one-time, $4,000 grant for College & Career Pathways students who plan to continue their college degree or certification training at RTC.

The application is completed online through the RTC Foundation website. Click on the “Apply Now” button to setup a password-protected account. Once your account is setup, you will have access to the grant application questions. The application asks that you have a recommendation from one of your CCP instructors.

  • Grant applications open for a set timeframe Fall, Winter, and Spring quarters and are offered on a first come, first served basis. 
  • You need to apply while you are currently enrolled at RTC and before you plan to start your college degree or certification program.

  • Winter Quarter 2025 – application opens Tuesday, Nov. 5
  • Spring Quarter 2025 – application opens Tuesday, Feb. 18
  • Summer/Fall 2025 – application opens Tuesday, June 10

The request email is embedded in the grant application. Just fill out the name and email of your instructor and click “send request.” Your instructor will receive an email with a link to the recommendation which is in a survey format. You will see the word “completed” once your instructor completes their recommendation and uploads it to your application.

No. All high school diploma, GED, English learning, College Preparation courses including the Bridge to Composition, and the Bridge to Healthcare, IT, and Automotive programs are included. You just need to have completed at least two quarters of CCP classes or a high school credential.

Once you submit a completed grant application, we will review and notify you via the email address you provide in your application.
