To be admitted to the Central Service Technician Program,  students must meet the following requirements:

• English fluency (verbal and written)
• Documentation of Hepatitis B vaccination (choose one below):
  • Proof of initial dose in the two or three dose vaccine series (must still complete full series)
  • Completion of a two or three dose vaccine series and an immunity titer
  • Immunity titer
• Show full compliance in DISA Healthcare Technology (formerly CastleBranch).
• Pass nationwide criminal background check through DISA Healthcare Technology.

  • Cost: $122.58 (do not create an account prior to invitation and registration to the program)
  • Results are normally returned within 3–5 business days. When you receive your results contact advising@rtc.edu with your name, student ID number, and intent to enroll in the Central Service Technician program.

Screening and Tracking Requirements

After admissions to the program, students must meet vaccination and program-specific health requirements in compliance with the Center for Disease Control Healthcare Provider immunization guidelines, including the submission of original lab results, x-ray reports, and immunization records, which must be dated and signed by their healthcare provider. Students must also show that they have uploaded all DISA Healthcare requirements, with the exception of CPR, which will be completed during class.

To be completed by week two of class (all vaccinations must be current while on externships): 

• Measles, Mumps and Rubella vaccine (two vaccines or proof of immunity titer), which should be in progress by the first day of class
• Varicella vaccine (two vaccines or proof of immunity titer), which should be in progress by the first day of class 
• Annual Tuberculosis skin test (must not expire during clinicals) 
• Annual seasonal Influenza vaccine 
• Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis (Tdap) vaccine within last 10 years (must not expire during clinicals.) 
• Hepatitis B vaccine (series of three vaccines two or three shot vaccine series and immunity titer) 
• Personal health insurance upon entry and for the duration of the program 
• Although the COVID vaccination is not currently a program admission requirement, our clinical partners may require a student to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID. Clinical placements may be unavailable for students who are not fully immunized 
• Current (within one year) physical evaluation by a physician or nurse practitioner to ensure student and patient safety 
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and to reach overhead 
  • Ability to stand or walk for long periods

1. The students should be informed that Health Insurance is required to participate in the clinical placement process.
2. COVID Vaccination is required for clinical placement and although RTC accepts religious exemptions, clinical sites do not. If you are seeking a religious exemption, clinical sites will not except these, therefore students that choose to enroll will not be able to successful complete the program chosen.

MMR, Varicella and HEP-B immunizations should be in progress by the first day of class. The HEP-B vaccination can be accepted if students have completed the 2 series, 3 series, or have a positive immunity tither. All vaccinations must be completed by the second week of the quarter. If students are not compliant, they will forfeit clinical placement/delay program completion.

To participate in the clinical placement process, students must have a social security card or work authorization.
