Students of Color Conference
This year, the Students of Color Conference (SOCC) will be a two (2) day hybrid (online and in-person) event with activities, workshops,
and conversations meant to engage students on the conference's five (5) main themes:
- Identity Development
- Awareness of Others
- Skills Development
- Social Justice/ Social Activism
- Personal Development
Students will be able to explore their identity and engage in workshops around social justice related skills and issues. SOCC has a rich history in the Community and Technical College system. There is no cost to participate for RTC students.
This year's theme is Rooted in Resistance, Growing Towards Liberation. The conference will be held at Renton Technical College in a hybrid format on Thursday, April 30 and Friday, May 1. Renton Technical College will be hosting Green River College and Highline College on-campus, in-person for SOCC. We will have a regional SOCC conference at RTC where the three colleges will participate in a hybrid format.
Application Process
Students interested in attending must complete and submit the application by Friday, March 13. The application will consist of 4 parts:

- Reflection Question
- Community Guidelines for All Retreat Participants
Eligibility
All students are welcome to and invited to apply to the SOCC. Students must be currently enrolled and in good standing at Renton Technical College to be eligible.
